The year 2022 brings many changes, quite significant from the perspective of carriers in Poland, but also abroad. As the beginning of February is behind us, it is worth learning more about the changes that transport companies and their drivers will have to deal with in countries, that are considered crucial for European transport.
Every transport company in Poland must be aware of the fat that the so-called Mobility Package brings quite a lot of changes. Which should especially be remembered?
The Mobility Package will also impose on transport companies, that carry out road transport of goods with the use of vehicles whose permissible total weight exceeds 2.5 tons and is not greater than 3.5 tons, the obligation related to access to the profession of road transport operator in international transport of goods.
Carrying out this type of transport will require the carrier to have a special permit to pursue the occupation of road transport operator, as well as a community license. These regulations will take effect on May 20, 2022.
The year 2022 also brings other EU regulations that require additional equipment in trucks. From July 6th, it will be necessary to install special temperature and tire pressure sensors in newly approved trucks and trailers. After two years, this obligation will also apply to every heavy vehicle manufactured.
The measurement of pressure in trucks will be performed indirectly, through an algorithm that calculates the pressure, for example on the basis of the number of wheel revolutions, or directly, through sensors installed inside the wheel. According to the European Commission, the changes introduced are to increase road safety and, at the same time, reduce the costs of carriers. Driving with under-inflated wheels can result in excessive tread wear and fuel consumption, which of course often leads to increased vehicle operating costs.
